Universe Flow
Growing up in Metro-Detroit, Universe Flow (formerly performing under the name “AudioLogycle”) has seen the steady and growing urban decline of his hometown, which is widely reflected in his lyric-driven hip-hop music. Universe first began writing poetry at an early age and it quickly caught his interest in a passionate and spiritual manner. Poetry soon turned to rhyming once the music of hip-hop began to be infused into his life, by way of legendary artists such as Rakim, Common, and Big L. The transformation was complete upon the meeting of two fellow Metro-Detroiters who were also interested in dedicating their lives to the music they had come to love. B. Aware, a Producer/Artist, and NinjaChopUh, a DJ/Producer joined forces with Universe to create Lost Science Productions in 2003. Since then they have been hard at work releasing Hip Hop music on the now deceased record label Phonix Records. Universe prefers not to over-categorize his musical style in an effort to bring many genres together in the name of progress, however he recognizes the stark contrast between his music and many others in the industry today. When pressed, universe will concede that his music reflects a more socially-conscious and positive vibe than majority of the emcees currently in the scene. Although he would not go as far to call it "back-pack" or "nerd-hop," he recognizes the similarities and can certainly relate to these types of music more than the commercial cookie cutter "rap music" category that he is all-to-often lumped into. If one thing were to be derived from his hard-hitting and content-heavy lyrics he would prefer a message of unity and interdependence among all things. Love being the underlying and motivating force in the continual progression of Universe Flow.
